In the house on Cherry Tree Lane, the troubled Banks family have hired a new nanny for young Jane and Michael. Using a combination of magic and common sense, Mary Poppins and Bert, the chimney sweep, must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Everyone will learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that, “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Based on the beloved Disney movie, and featuring songs like “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” and “Chim Chim Cheree,” Mary Poppins will delight the audience and provide fun for the whole cast. Auditions will be the last week in July, and performances will be November 1 – 23. Watch the website, https://madtheater.org/, for more announcements. There is an expandable chorus and the show will be double cast, providing opportunities for everyone who wishes to participate on stage. MAD especially welcomes beginners and anyone who is new to theater but wishes to develop a new talent. People of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, abilities, and ages are welcome to audition. Led by director Jon Gardner and producers Dave Buckingham and Eliot Malumuth, we hope to recruit additional members of the artistic and production team soon. If you are interested, please contact Jon Gardner at jongreenbelt@yahoo.com. If you would like to play in the 11-piece live orchestra, please contact orchestra director Susan Breon at susan.r.breon@nasa.gov.

Like Mary Poppins herself, the show is “Practically Perfect in Every Way.”
