The MAD winter show will be Almost, Maine, written by John Cariani, directed by Aly Bayens and James Pildis, and produced by Jon Gardner. Performances will be weekends March 7-22.
Auditions will take place:
Monday, January 13, 2025 at 7:00pm in the Building 3 auditorium. (People who don’t have a NASA badge must email badges@madtheater.org no later than Noon on Thursday, January 9, to request a 1-day badge.)
Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 7:00pm in the Visitor Center, no badge needed.
Callbacks: Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 7:00pm in the Visitor Center, by invitation only.

Almost, Maine is a play about love, loss, and a bit of magic in a fictional town in Maine. The play is made up of nine short stories about the residents of Almost, Maine who find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected ways.
Characters (in order of appearance; all parts are “features”):
Pete (typically male, 18-30s) – Almost pessimistic but he truly loves Ginette although it’s hard for him to admit
Ginette (typically female, 18-30s) – Optimistic and loving toward Pete. A bit of a chatterbox who rambles on when she’s nervous
East (male, 30+) – A repairman, calm and sincere
Glory (female, 30+) – A vulnerable, nervous and guilty hiker
Jimmy (male, 20s-30s) – A guy who’s broken heart makes it hard for him to speak his mind
Sandrine (female, 20s-30s) – Jimmy’s Ex who left him suddenly but is put together and sensitive towards Jimmy
Waitress/Villian (female, 20s-30s) – A no nonsense, sassy waitress
Steve (male, 18-30s) – Open, clueless and kind. Has an inability to feel pain
Marvalyn (female, 18-30s) – A self-protective nurse who is in a rough patch in her relationship
Gayle (typically female, any age) – Headstrong and feisty. She is tired of waiting for her boyfriend, Lendall, to commit
Lendall (typically male, any age) – Longtime boyfriend of Gayle, an understanding and collected person who is trying to understand his girlfriend
Chad/Shelly (any gender, any age) – A classically country folk. Tells their best friend that they have feelings for them
Randy/Deena (any gender, any age) – Ends up having feelings for their best friend Chad/Shelly, but it’s hard for them to admit it
Phil (typically male, 40+) – A working man who gets in a fight with his wife after ice skating
Marci (typically female, 40+) – The hardworking wife of Phil, who is angry with him over all the things his work has caused him to miss
Hope (female, 30+) – A jittery woman who left her boyfriend to go off into the world, and has come back to see him
Man/Daniel (male, 30+) – The ex of Hope. Despite her leaving, his life has gone on and changed without her
Rhonda (typically female, 20s-40s) – A tough and closed off person who is awkward around Dave
Dave (typically male, 20s-40s) – A not so tough person. Loves Rhonda for who she is
MAD welcomes participation in Almost, Maine by people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities and abilities. There are no parts for children or young teens; all actors must be 18 or older. No experience necessary.
