MAD’s Spring Music and Drama Workshops will use selected songs and scenes from the 1961 musical, “Carnival!” The workshops will include instruction in singing, acting, and puppetry, leading up to a performance run over two weekends in May. The musical is based on the 1954 film “Lili” and a short story by Paul Gallico. Songs include “Love Makes the World Go ‘Round.” All are welcome to participate. Richard Richardson is the Director, Chris Wells is the Music Director, and Linda Pattison is the Producer.
The first workshop will be on Monday, March 24th, at the Goddard Visitor Center starting at 7pm. A more detailed schedule will be worked out with the participants. The goal is 2 times per week for Drama selections and 1-2 times a week for Music. Workshops will be held either at the Goddard Visitor Center or Building 3 Auditorium.
On Monday, the 24th, we will go through the selected readings and songs from “Carnival!” Everyone who comes will have a part in the show. There are dramatic parts which include singing and ones that do not require singing.
The goal is to put on a Spring Show the weekends of May 16th and 23rd. The plan is to have these performances in the Visitor Center (eliminating the badging requirements for audience).
